Busted! Don’t believe these flooring myths!

Often, there’s no better flooring that good ol’ hardwood flooring. However, with the growing number of choices, come an increasing number of questions that make making a decision, all the more difficult.

Will a hardwood flooring match my lifestyle? Will it be too cold? Will it retain its value? Will it go out of style soon? These questions coupled with numerous myths about hardwood flooring often act like termites that destroy your flooring dreams. While Just Floored will be happy to answer all your questions, we believe it’s our duty to bury these old wive’s tales.

So... if you’re a looking for a flooring option but are still in doubt whether hardwood would be a good choice, we’re going to bust three myths that may change your mind.

MYTH 1: Hardwood floors can't stand up to wear and tear from young children and pets.

This myth exists because not all customers understand the differences between different species of wood. Different species of wood have different durability and hardness, measured by something called a "Janka" scale. The higher the number on the Janka scale, the more durable and hard the wood is. There are plenty of products that we at Just Floored offer, that have high durability and hardness that can withstand any lifestyle.

MYTH 2: Hardwood floors are expensive.

This myth exists in our industry because, yes, initially hardwood floors are more of an investment. However, hardwood floors are one of the most cost-efficient flooring options available. We would recommend hardwood flooring to customers based on the needs assessed in the space. While hardwood flooring may not be the best fit for everyone's budget, it is one of the least expensive flooring options available when considering total service life.

MYTH 3: Feel free to use a "wet mop" to clean hardwood floors.

Contrary to popular belief, using a "wet mop" to clean hardwood floors is not a good idea at all. By and large, this happens because typically when you think of cleaning a floor, you think of just mopping the mess up. However, using a wet mop can cause damage to the wood or dull the finish of the hardwood. We recommend using dry cleaners to pick up dust, followed by lightly misting the floor with an approved hardwood cleaner and dry mop.
